Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten on Sunday arrived in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv in what is only his second foreign visit since taking office late last month.

The visit was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who posted a picture of the two laying flowers at the Wall of Remembrance of the Fallen for Ukraine.

“We thank each and every one. We remember and honor the feat of our heroes – all those who stood up to defend Ukraine and gave their lives in this fight for independence,” Zelenskyy wrote alongside the picture on US social media company X.

Meanwhile, the Dutch prime minister wrote on X that he arrived in Kyiv to underscore his country’s support for Ukraine, and visited a neighborhood of the Ukrainian capital struck by Russian airstrikes.

No further details were revealed of Jetten’s visit, who became the youngest prime minister in Dutch history after taking office on Feb. 23.

Jetten last week paid his first foreign visit as premier to Brussels, where he met top EU officials, including European Council President Antonio Costa, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
