Liverpool are keen on landing Atalanta right-back Marco Palestra when the transfer window reopens this summer, according to Caught Offside.

The Merseyside giants are preparing for another spending spree and a new right-back could be one of the top priorities for manager Arne Slot.

Caught Offside claim that the Blues have been keeping a close eye on the Italian’s performance at Cagliari, where is presently on a temporary deal.

Atalanta consider the 21-year-old as a key part of their future plans and they are likely to hold out a premium fee of at least €40m for his services.

The Reds are likely to part ways with Joe Gomez this summer, while Conor Bradley could likewise head for the exit door for regular playing time.

Jeremie Frimpong looks poised to be one of the options at right-back next term, and Palestra could compete for places with the Dutch international.

Aside from a right-back, a centre-back is also expected to be signed by the Premier League holders, who recently exited the FA Cup.
