    The European Union Delegation to Nigeria has announced a six-month traineeship opportunity for young Nigerian graduates interested in international relations and diplomacy.

    According to a notice published on the delegation’s website on Thursday, the traineeship would take place within its Political, Press and Information Section.

    It will tentatively start in July 2026, while “the deadline for submitting applications is 08/05/2026.”

    According to the notice, the programme is designed to give participants practical insight into the work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU represents its interests and values in Nigeria.

    Successful applicants will be involved in “drafting reports on internal political developments, human rights, economic situation, regional issues, foreign policy and/or other policy areas of relevance for EU interests and values;

    “Support the PPI Section in organisation of meetings/drafting meeting minutes; support the PPI Section on communication activities;

    “Support the PPI Section on public diplomacy events; support the PPI Section on preparation of visits from EEAS HQ and other EU institutions.”

    To apply, candidates must submit a Europass CV, cover letter, and completed application form to the e-mail address [email protected] before May 8.

    The application form can be downloaded from EU’s official website.

    On eligibility, the EU delegation noted that applicants must be Nigerian citizens currently residing in Abuja, hold at least a bachelor’s degree, and have less than one year of professional experience after graduation.

    Candidates must also not have had more than six weeks’ prior experience with EU institutions.

    The delegation said shortlisted candidates would be invited for interviews, while successful trainees would receive a monthly stipend to cover living expenses.

    However, participants will be responsible for travel, visa, insurance and accommodation costs.
