Court has shifted judgment delivery on ADC Leadership suit against David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed judgment in a suit seeking to restrain David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from parading themselves as interim national chairman and secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The ruling, initially scheduled for April 13, was shifted to April 14 by Justice Musa Suleiman Liman due to other official engagements.

The adjournment was announced by a court registrar to lawyers, politicians, and observers who had gathered at the court premises early Monday in anticipation of the verdict.

The suit was filed by Leke Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives from Kogi State, who is challenging the legality of the party’s current leadership structure.

In the originating summons marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1637/2025, Abejide is asking the court to nullify the alleged handover of ADC leadership by Ralph Nwosu to Mark and Aregbesola, describing it as unlawful, illegal, and void.

He is also seeking a perpetual injunction restraining both men from presenting themselves as leaders of the party, as well as an order barring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising them in those roles.

However, the defendants including the ADC, Nwosu, Mark, Aregbesola, and INEC have urged the court to dismiss the suit, arguing that it lacks merit and falls within the internal affairs of a political party, which they contend is non-justiciable.

They further maintained that the leadership in question emerged from a National Executive Committee meeting held on July 29, 2025, contrary to Abejide’s claims.

Justice Liman had reserved judgment after all parties adopted their final arguments last week. The court is now expected to deliver its ruling on April 14, 2026.
