The Chief Executive Officer of Layer3, Oyaje Idoko, has said Africa’s next phase of digital growth will depend on stronger partnerships between global technology providers, local infrastructure firms, enterprises, and government institutions.

According to the company, no single player can independently deliver the depth of infrastructure required to support modern enterprise systems across African markets.

Idoko noted that while global technology firms typically provide advanced tools, platforms and research-driven innovation, local infrastructure providers are often better positioned to handle regulatory requirements, operational realities, and on-the-ground execution.

In a statement on Thursday, Idoko said while Africa’s digital economy was expanding quickly, the real constraint is no longer adoption of technology, but the strength of the infrastructure required to sustain it at scale.

He said the combination of both was becoming essential for enterprises that require stable, secure, and scalable systems.

“Africa’s next phase of digital expansion will be defined less by individual innovation breakthroughs and more by the strength of the infrastructure systems supporting them.

“Enterprises that can build resilient and scalable infrastructure will be better positioned to compete in an increasingly digital and interconnected economy.

“As digital systems become more deeply embedded in business operations, infrastructure is expected to play a more central role in determining how organisations grow, operate and sustain performance across African markets,” he said.

Idoko said the focus of Layer3, a Nigerian enterprise technology company, remains on enabling organisations to build infrastructure that can scale with business growth.

He lamented that in Nigeria, many organisations still rely on disconnected infrastructure environments, a situation that increases operational complexity and limits scalability.

Idoko said Layer3, which recently marked over 20 years of operations in Nigeria’s technology infrastructure space, was built on combining global partnerships with local execution capability.

This approach, he said, enables enterprises to leverage advanced infrastructure while operating within local regulatory and business conditions.

The remarks come amid growing efforts by African governments and private sector players to accelerate digital transformation, expand broadband penetration, strengthen cloud infrastructure and improve data management systems to support economic growth and innovation across the continent.
