Six final-year students of the Department of Estate Management, University of Lagos, have been offered automatic employment by real estate firm, Jide Taiwo & Co.

The firm also unveiled a N1m scholarship and rewards package, which will go to the overall best graduating student and the best female graduating student, among other recognitions.

Regional Manager, Lagos Island of the company, Bashir Tajudeen, made this announcement during its 2026 Career Day/Job Fair, held over the weekend at the University of Lagos.

According to Tajudeen, “the intervention is part of its commitment to nurturing young professionals and bridging the gap between university training and industry practice.”

He explained that the fair was organised to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and prepare students for careers in estate surveying, valuation and the wider built environment.

The Career Day featured interactive sessions aimed at exposing students to real-world expectations in estate surveying and valuation practice, as well as career pathways within the built environment sector.

Delivering the opening remarks, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Prof. Olumide Adenuga, stressed the need for education to go beyond certification.

“What is of utmost importance is the application of knowledge derived from hours of study and deliberate preparation for life after graduation,” he said.

The Head of Department of Estate Management, Prof. Hikmot Koleosho, commended the firm for strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.

She urged students to take full advantage of the engagement to prepare for professional practice.

The General Manager, Facilities Management at Jide Taiwo & Co., ESV Adebiyi Ayeni, who delivered a lecture titled “Classroom to Boardroom: Mapping Your Career Path in the Built Sector,” said success in the profession requires discipline and continuous growth beyond classroom learning.

“The profession rewards excellence, integrity, focus, adaptability, experience and continuous growth, far beyond what the classroom alone can offer,” he said.
