Manchester City have not opened talks with Chelsea to sign midfielder Enzo Fernandez, according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Cityzens have already landed a marquee midfielder in Elliot Anderson, but they are aiming for another high-profile addition.

Fernandez has been linked with the club on many occasions, and Man City have received a boost with Real Madrid no longer interested.

Romano has now revealed that Man City are yet to open discussions with either Chelsea or Fernandez’s entourage regarding a transfer.

Fernandez is presently focused on the World Cup with Argentina and will discuss his future with the Blues following the tournament.

Arsenal have also been linked with the former Benfica man. They see him as a possible alternative to Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes.

The Gunners are determined to land a creative central midfielder and Fernandez would be a good fit after his 22 goal contributions last term.

Fernandez was on the Gunners’ radar during his time at River Plate.
