The enforcement of the 2026 parking permit regulations by the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) across all its operational zones in the state has officially commenced.

The General Manager of LASPA, Mrs Adebisi Adelabu, said the commencement of the enforcement marks the end of the prolonged grace period granted to customers to regularise their activities and obtain their 2026 parking permits.

She noted that the extension was intended to provide sufficient opportunity for all affected customers to meet their obligations and comply with the requirements of the agency.

According to her, the enforcement is to ensure compliance with approved parking regulations, promote accountability and strengthen the effective management of parking activities across the metropolis, adding that the exercise is also to ensure full compliance with the laws governing the transport sector while streamlining parking management across Lagos.

She expressed concern that a significant number of customers have yet to obtain their 2026 parking permits despite several appeals, direct communications, reminders, and the extended grace period provided by LASPA.

The GM explained that the Authority had earlier distributed the 2026 Demand Notices to all registered customers, clearly stating the applicable fees, requirements, and procedures for obtaining the 2026 parking permits.

She urged customers who are yet to regularise their operations to take immediate steps to fulfil their obligations and avoid sanctions arising from continued non-compliance.

Mrs Adelabu emphasised that the enforcement exercise is not intended to be punitive, but a necessary measure to restore order, accountability, and efficiency within Lagos’ parking ecosystem, stating that valid parking permits and accurate customer records are essential to enable LASPA to effectively plan, monitor, regulate, and manage parking infrastructure and services across the state.

The LASPA boss further disclosed that defaulting customers on the 2026 Demand Notices would be liable to severe penalties, including substantial fines and immediate suspension of operations, in accordance with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018 and urged them to immediately regularise their operations and obtain the required parking permits.

Mrs. Adelabu assured that LASPA personnel are available to provide swift assistance and guidance, including support with the online payment and registration portals.

While reaffirming the organisation’s commitment towards an efficient and sustainable parking system for residents, businesses, and visitors to Lagos State, she appealed to members of the public to cooperate with enforcement officers and report any unauthorised parking activities to LASPA.
