FG has opened applications for free solar PV Installation Training in Lagos and Abeokuta.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Government, in partnership with Siemens Energy and the German development agency, GIZ, has opened applications for a free Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installation Training programme for professionals, technicians and young Nigerians interested in careers in renewable energy.

The training is being offered under the Siemens Energy Education and Development (SEED) project and supported by the Nigerian Energy Support Programme, a technical assistance initiative co-funded by the European Union and the German Government and implemented by GIZ.

According to a notice posted by FGN Power Company on its X handle on Wednesday, the programme will combine theoretical instruction, hands-on practical sessions, technical site visits and competency assessments.

Participants who successfully complete the programme will also receive certification from the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

The organisers said the programme is open to applicants with practical experience as well as those without formal education or prior practical experience.

“Recent graduates with National Diploma, Higher National Diploma or undergraduate qualifications, young professionals in relevant fields and people passionate about renewable energy are also encouraged to apply,” the notice stated.

However, applicants are required to be available to participate in the three-week training physically.

How to Apply for the Free Solar Training

Interested applicants are required to complete an online Expression of Interest form before 4pm on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Applicants will be required to provide their full name, gender, phone number, email address and preferred training location.

They must also confirm their availability to attend the three-week onsite training from September 2026.

The application process also requires applicants to provide details of their educational and professional backgrounds, including their highest level of education, employment status, work experience and sector of employment.

Applicants with formal educational backgrounds are expected to upload their most recent CV and degree certificates or other relevant qualifications and certificates.

    Training Locations and Benefits

The training will take place at centres in Lagos and Abeokuta, Ogun State, with each training stream lasting three weeks onsite.

The organisers said both the training and certification would be provided free of charge.

Meals will also be provided to participants on training days.

However, applicants are expected to make their own arrangements for accommodation and transportation, as these will not be provided by the organisers.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening technical skills and expanding opportunities for Nigerians seeking careers in the renewable energy sector, particularly in solar photovoltaic installation.

    Application deadline: 4pm, Friday, September 18, 2026.
