Enugu Air acquires new Embraer 195 aircraft for expansion

Enugu Air, operated by XEJET, has announced the arrival of its newest aircraft, the Embraer 195, marking another step in its commitment to providing safe, reliable and efficient air travel services.

In a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer of XEJET, Mr Emmanuel Iza, the airline acknowledged the support and vision of the Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah, whose commitment to aviation development, it said, continues to strengthen connectivity and drive economic growth in the region.

He added that the acquisition represents further progress in the airline’s expansion plans as it builds a carrier that customers can rely on while promising the introduction of additional services in the coming weeks.

Enugu Air is a Nigerian airline owned by the Enugu State Government. It was launched as a state-owned carrier in July 2025 as part of efforts to boost regional air connectivity, economic activity and local aviation development. The airline is based at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu State.

At its launch on 7 July 2025, Enugu Air began commercial flights with three Embraer 170 aircraft, each seating around 76 passengers. Rather than operating independently at first, it partnered with private carrier XEJET, which holds the regulatory approvals to fly aircraft on behalf of Enugu Air while the latter completes its own Air Operator Certificate application. Under this arrangement, XEJET is authorised to operate scheduled domestic flights for Enugu Air, and ticket bookings are handled through XEJET’s platform.
