Chelsea and Arsenal in for Alvarez?
    Football Transfer Centre

Chelsea and Arsenal could be ready to spend big on Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez during the summer transfer window, according to Sport in Spain.

The Argentine signed for the La Liga giants from Manchester City in the summer of 2024. He had a good debut campaign with 37 goal contributions in all competitions.

Alvarez has managed only 19 in the ongoing season thus far, but continues to be highly-rated by Atletico, who are determined to keep him beyond the next transfer window.

Sport today claim that Barcelona are completely out of the race for the striker as they can’t compete financially with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.

The London giants have the financial muscle to spend more than €100 million on the World Cup winner, but Atletico could put them off with their price tag.

The La Liga side are prepared to spend as much as €200 million in an attempt to ward off interest from any interested clubs ahead of the 2026/27 season.
