The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Monday, upheld the decision of the Federal High Court in Abuja invalidating the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in Ibadan, Oyo State, between 15 and 16 November 2025. The convention, which went on in defiance of court decisions, produced the Taminu Turaki leadership of the party. A three-member panel of the panel unanimously dismissed the appeals brought before it by the Mr Turaki-led faction of the party. The Rivers State House of Assembly has rejected four commissioner nominees submitted by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The nominees were screened on Monday at the State Assembly in Port Harcourt. The Group of Seven (G7) finance ministers will discuss on Monday a joint release of oil from emergency reserves coordinated by the International Energy Agency, the Financial Times reported. The death toll from heavy rains and flooding in Kenya’s capital Nairobi and elsewhere has nearly doubled to 42, the government said in a statement issued late on Sunday.
