Bianca Ojukwu and ECOWAS: Nigeria’s Regional Influence

    By Prima NewsFebruary 27, 2026

Recently, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Chief Bianca Ojukwu, met with a senior official of the Economic Community of West African States’ Commission.  The ECOWAS Commission is the administrative mechanism, the coordinating body for the operations of member states. It has a president and other political appointees called commissioners. Under them are the bureaucrats, equivalent of members of a nation’s civil service.  The meeting that the honourable minister had reportedly focused on the commission’s agenda and how aligned it was with member states’ objectives. That tells me something straightaway: Ojukwu decided to check very closely if what the…

    By Prima NewsFebruary 27, 2026

The past two weeks have been defined by a clash between Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as the two battle over the military’s use of AI.  Anthropic refuses to allow its AI models to be used for mass surveillance of Americans or for fully autonomous weapons that conduct strikes without human input. At the same time, Secretary Hegseth has argued the Department of Defense shouldn’t be limited by the rules of a vendor, arguing any “lawful use” of the technology should be permitted. On Thursday, Amodei publicly signaled that Anthropic isn’t backing down — despite threats…

Lagos and the macroeconomic cost of unaffordable housing, By Ayodele Adio

    By Prima NewsFebruary 27, 2026

…housing affordability in Lagos should be treated as an economic reform issue, not a welfare talking point. A city cannot grow inclusively when its workforce is priced out of stability. The findings on high rent burdens, large housing deficits, and a renter-heavy population should be read as macroeconomic signals: Lagos is operating with a major structural drag on consumption, productivity, and labour mobility. If Lagos wants faster growth and better employment outcomes, it cannot leave rents to grow unconstrained, while incomes stagnate. When Rent Eats the Economy Lagos has become one of the clearest examples in Africa of how a…

    By Prima NewsFebruary 27, 2026

Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 32nd President of the United States, who pulled his people from the Great Depression into safety and succour, must have seen a lot, heard aplenty, and experienced much. When his wise statements are made mention of in history, be all ears. Roosevelt once said that in politics, the good, the bad, and the ugly happen. And whatever happens in politics, it is never outside of the collusion and coordination stratagems of politicians. Malam Nasir El Rufai is a Northern politician of gravitas. He served two terms as governor, and his tenure was marked by both praise for…
