Four clubs: Como, LASK, Sabah and Viking will make their first appearances in the UEFA Champions League league phase in the 2026/27 season.

The quartet were confirmed among the 36 teams that will compete in the league phase following the conclusion of the qualifying rounds.

Italian side Como, Austrian club LASK, Azerbaijan’s Sabah and Norwegian outfit Viking all secured places in the competition, marking a historic milestone for each club. UEFA confirmed the four newcomers among the teams set to take part in the 2026/27 league phase.

LASK booked their place in dramatic fashion after producing a remarkable comeback against Celtic in the play-off round.

After losing the first leg 3-0, LASK overturned the deficit with a 5-1 victory in the second leg, winning the tie 5-4 on aggregate. Samuel Adeniran scored twice, including the decisive goal in extra time, to send the Austrian club into the Champions League for the first time.

Sabah also reached the league phase for the first time after defeating Hapoel Beer-Sheva 5-2 after extra time to complete a 6-4 aggregate victory.

The Azerbaijani club’s qualification represents a major moment in its history and gives the country a new representative on Europe’s biggest club stage.

Viking will also compete in the league phase, joining fellow Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt in the competition. UEFA lists Viking among the 36 clubs confirmed for the 2026/27 tournament.

Como, meanwhile, will represent Italy alongside Inter, Napoli and Roma. Their qualification gives the club its first appearance in the Champions League league phase.

The 2026/27 Champions League features 36 teams under the league-phase format. Each club will play eight matches against eight different opponents, with four games at home and four away. The league phase is scheduled to begin in September.

The league-phase draw is taking place in Monaco on Thursday, August 27, with the 36 clubs divided into four seeding pots.
