The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, on Thursday, said President Bola Tinubu remains committed to democratic governance and the rule of law following his assent to the Electoral Law of 2026.

Yilwatda disclosed this in a statement posted on his official X account after attending an interfaith breaking of fast with the President, Vice President Kashim Shettima, leaders of the APC and members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council at the State House in Abuja.

According to him, the gathering reflected unity among political and religious leaders and underscored a shared commitment to Nigeria’s development.

“I had the privilege of breaking the fast with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Vice President Kashim Shettima during an interfaith breaking of fast with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) at the State House, Abuja.

“The gathering was not only spiritually uplifting but also significant for our party, our nation, and the shared aspirations of Nigerians. It brought together leaders from different religious and political backgrounds, reinforcing the truth that despite our diversity, we remain united by a common destiny”, Yilwatda’s statement partly read.

The APC chairman noted that Nigeria’s diversity should be seen as a source of strength rather than division.

“I took particular note that our diversity in religion, culture, and political affiliation only strengthens the fact that we share a common faith in Nigeria and a collective hope for its future.

“Moments like this remind us that unity, tolerance, and dialogue remain essential pillars for national progress”, he continued.

Yilwatda said he used the opportunity to commend the President for his service to the country and expressed confidence in the administration’s policy direction.

“On behalf of the National Working Committee, I commended President Tinubu for the sacrifices he has made in service to the nation and expressed strong confidence in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Encouragingly, the President’s economic policies are beginning to yield results, with key indicators showing signs of stabilisation and restoring confidence in Nigeria’s economic trajectory”, the statement added.

He also highlighted the President’s recent assent to the Electoral Law of 2026, describing it as a demonstration of respect for democratic institutions.

“President Tinubu further reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to democratic governance and the rule of law following his assent to the Electoral Law of 2026.

“Signing the legislation reflects his deep respect for democratic institutions and the constitutional role of the National Assembly, which overwhelmingly passed the bill.”

He added that the interfaith gathering underscored the importance of unity and collective leadership in advancing Nigeria’s democratic journey.

“The interfaith gathering was a powerful reflection of unity, tolerance, and shared national purpose as Nigeria continues its democratic journey.

“It was also a reminder that through collective leadership, faith in our institutions, and commitment to the national interest, we can continue to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.”
