Premium tequila brand, Don Julio, took centre stage at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards as the headline sponsor, using the platform to celebrate excellence, creativity and craftsmanship in African film and television.

Held in Lagos, the AMVCA brought together some of the continent’s biggest stars, filmmakers and entertainment personalities, with Don Julio introducing “The Don’s Table,” a symbolic experience designed to honour individuals whose dedication and years of commitment have shaped their careers.

A statement shared with Saturday Beats noted that the initiative, which was inspired by the legacy of Don Julio González, celebrated professionals whose consistency and devotion to their craft have earned them defining moments of recognition.

As part of its involvement, the brand sponsored three major award categories— Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Film of the Year.

Hosted by media personality, Uti Nwachukwu, The Don’s Table became one of the highlights of the evening, providing an intimate space where winners reflected on their creative journeys and the discipline behind their success.

Actor Uzor Arukwe emerged as the recipient of the Best Actor recognition, earning applause from guests who described the honour as long overdue.

For Best Supporting Actress, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman was celebrated for her versatility, resilience and ability to bring authenticity to her roles.

The Best Film of the Year recognition went to ‘My Father’s Shadow’, with filmmakers, Funmbi Ogunbawo and Wale Davis, honoured for a project many described as reflective of the growing global appeal of African storytelling.

To commemorate the moment, each winner received an engraved bottle of Don Julio 1942, a gesture the brand said symbolised permanence, recognition and earned excellence.

One of the memorable moments of the night came during the Don Julio 1942 toast, led by comedian and host Bovi Ugboma, who celebrated the achievements of creatives shaping the future of African entertainment.

Don Julio also made an impression on the AMVCA red carpet through its Fashion Icon of the Night, Uche Montana, who appeared in a custom outfit designed by Tubo founder, Tubo Bereni. Inspired by the rise of a phoenix, the outfit symbolised reinvention, strength and ambition.
