Osun: Momodu backs Adeleke for second term; APC predicts defeat

All Progressives Congress, APC has insisted that its governorship candidate in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election, Biodun Oyebamiji, will defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke.

However, media entrepreneur and ADC chieftain, Dele Momodu, expressed confidence that Adeleke would secure a second term due to his impressive performance in office.

Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, Wednesday, Momodu said Adeleke had transformed several parts of the state through infrastructure development and improvements in education and healthcare.

Momodu said: “Go to Ila Orangun, you will not recognise the place. Now, go to Osogbo and you will ask yourself what the people before him were doing. Go to Ile-Ife, it used to be called a village. Now, it has become a mega city. Go to Ede, go to Iwo and Ilesha. What more do you want from a man? The schools are being refurbished. Go to the health clinics. All these things have happened in the past four years. And this is a state where their money is being frozen, where they are being intimidated left, right and centre. How he did it, I am still asking him. When he started the Ife road, I told him he would never complete it in four years. He has done it. I saw a video of hordes of people on the street praying for government of Osun. Osun people are over-excited.

“Also, don’t forget, the youth of Osun have one of their biggest icons, global icon Davido, who has come down and gone around, mingling with the people. This family owns a university in Ede, Adeleke University. About 70 per cent of the students, I am told, are on scholarship.”

But speaking on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme, Wednesday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the Adeleke administration had performed poorly

Morka said: “Governor Ademola Adeleke has been very dismal in his performance as governor. Is it the health sector that is in shambles? Is it the education sector? Governor Adeleke is utterly defeatable because he has not done well. That is obvious in Osun. Just in the last few weeks, a number of institutions, serious individuals and stakeholders have endorsed Ambo, the APC candidate, in this election. The jury is out and they will come in on Saturday to give their verdict.”
