Available market data put the official dollar-to-naira rate at about ₦1,322.72 per US dollar. The rate source records ₦1,322.72 to the dollar as of September 9, with the September 10 historical rate also listed at the same level.
In the parallel market, the dollar was quoted at about ₦1,380 to ₦1,390, depending on the direction of the transaction. One market tracker reported a buying rate of ₦1,380 and a selling rate of ₦1,390 early Thursday.
Another parallel-market tracker also put the dollar at around ₦1,390 on September 10, although rates can vary between locations and dealers.
The difference between the official NFEM rate of ₦1,322.72 and a parallel-market selling rate of ₦1,390 is about ₦67.28 per dollar.
Recent trading has shown relative strength for the naira in the official market. Reports citing Central Bank of Nigeria data said the currency traded around ₦1,320 per dollar on September 8, after recording further gains at the official window.
At the time of publication, the parallel market remained above the official rate, reflecting the continued difference between regulated foreign-exchange transactions and informal market pricing.
Exchange rates can change during the day depending on dollar supply, demand, trading activity and CBN interventions. The quoted parallel-market figures should therefore be treated as indicative rather than fixed transaction rates.
