Brighton wasted little time taking control of the contest, with Crystal Palace defender Jaydee Canvot scoring an own goal in the fourth minute to give the hosts an early advantage. Diego Gomez doubled Brighton’s lead in the seventh minute before Yasin Ayari added a third just three minutes later, leaving Palace with a mountain to climb.
Despite the early damage, Brighton continued to push forward and maintained their attacking intensity. Kostoulas extended the advantage in the 49th minute, putting the result beyond doubt, before Jack Hinshelwood completed the scoring in the 84th minute.
The emphatic victory was a significant statement from Brighton, who combined clinical finishing with an impressive attacking display to overwhelm their opponents. Scoring five goals without conceding also underlined their effectiveness at both ends of the pitch.
For Crystal Palace, the defeat was a difficult afternoon to forget. Conceding five goals against a London rival will raise concerns about their defensive organisation, while Brighton will take considerable confidence from a record-breaking result.
The 5-0 scoreline gives Brighton a memorable victory over Palace and establishes a new milestone in the club’s Premier League history.
