Iran on Wednesday criticized the US and Israel for spreading “disinformation” about its nuclear program and ballistic missiles, describing them as “the repetition of big lies.”

“‘Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth,’ is a law of propaganda coined by Nazi Joseph Goebbels. This is now systematically used by the U.S. administration and the war profiteers encircling it, particularly the genocidal Israeli regime, to serve their sinister disinformation & misinformation campaign against the Nation of Iran,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei on the US social media company X.

“Whatever they’re alleging in regards to Iran’s nuclear program, Iran’s ballistic missiles, and the number of casualties during January’s unrest is simply the repetition of ‘big lies,'” Baghaei asserted.

“No one should be fooled by these prominent untruths,” he added.

Baghaei’s remarks came after US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that, while he prefers a diplomatic solution with Iran, he will not allow Tehran to acquire a nuclear weapon under any circumstances.

“My preference is to solve this problem through diplomacy. But one thing is certain: I will never allow the world’s number one sponsor of terror, which they are by far, to have a nuclear weapon. Can’t let that happen,” Trump said during his 2026 State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress.

The remarks come as a third round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the US, mediated by Oman, is scheduled for Thursday in Geneva, where Iran is expected to present a draft proposal.

The two sides first met in Oman on Feb. 6 for indirect negotiations and agreed to continue contacts. Talks later resumed in Geneva on Feb. 17.

The US has increased its military presence in the Persian Gulf region amid threats by Trump of military action against Tehran if current nuclear negotiations fail.

Tehran, for its part, accuses the US administration and Israel of fabricating pretexts for military intervention and regime change and has vowed to respond to any attack, even a limited one. Iranian officials insist that sanctions relief must accompany any agreement to limit the country’s nuclear program.
