Tragedy again struck the South African entertainment industry as one of its music stars, Rapper Costa Titch dies while performing on stage.

Reports say Titch’s passing was confirmed by entertainment commentator Phil Mphela on Twitter shortly before midnight, Saturday night, at the Johannesburg Ultra Music Festival, held in Gautem.

Titch, whose real name is Costa Tsobanoglou, was a very popular performing artiste in South Africa. He was known for his popular hit songs, including ‘Big Flexa’.

Though the cause of his sudden death is ye to be ascertained, rumour has it that the event’s Strobe lights may have triggered his epilepsy.

Available stage video evidence showed Titch, who headlined the music festival which ran over two days, fell while performing one of his songs. He was however, helped up on his feet by one of his stage partners to continue performing until he was done with the song following which his audience reacted ecstatically.

He however, fell a second time after which he was later confirmed dead.

His death is the second that has recently hit the South African entertainment industry in recent weeks following the killing of Kiernan Forbes, better known as AKA, with whom he collaborated for the song, Super Soft.

AKA was shot and killed outside of a restaurant in Durban by yet to be identified assailant.

27 year-old Titch who was said to be with African-American music star, Akon, on stage, was also a dancer. He was born in Mbombela, now known as Nelspruit, the sprawling capital city of Mpumalanga in 1995. His other hits include Nkalakatha and Activate.

Reactions are alreading pouring in over his demise. Among others are many from his entertainment peers and one from the leader of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters, EFF, Julius Malema.
