ADC vows to dethrone APC in Yobe ahead of 2027 polls

The African Democratic Congress has vowed to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress in Yobe State and at the national level in the 2027 general elections.

A former Minister of Police Affairs and ADC leader in Yobe State, Adamu Waziri, made the declaration on Monday while commissioning the party’s zonal and local government secretariats in Damaturu, Tarmuwa, and Bursari Local Government Areas of the state.

According to Waziri, the commissioning of the secretariats is part of a wider strategy to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and position the ADC as a credible alternative to the APC.

He said the party has been working hard to prepare for a successful national convention and primary elections, which will further consolidate its strength ahead of the 2027 polls.

“Our party is determined to challenge the status quo and, by God’s grace, we are going to change it. We are laying the groundwork across Yobe and beyond. This is a new chapter for politics in the state,” Waziri told journalists.

The former PDP Board of Trustees member noted that the party’s top priority is to convince Yobe residents and Nigerians, especially the youth, that the ADC offers practical solutions to the country’s most pressing problems.

He added that the party is focusing on outreach programmes, public engagement, and policy discussions to win the confidence of the electorate.

Waziri also announced that a nationwide membership registration and validation exercise will commence within the next two weeks.

He explained that this exercise will precede the local government and state congresses, as well as the party’s non-elective national convention.

The move is aimed at boosting participation, ensuring transparency, and positioning the ADC for a strong performance in the 2027 elections.

The ADC leader concluded by urging supporters to remain committed and engaged.

He said the party is ready to take its message to all corners of Yobe State and across the country.
