The All Progressives Congress has released its final list of cleared aspirants for the Rivers State House of Assembly primary election scheduled for Wednesday.

In the list, no loyalist of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, was cleared.

Recall that the party had initially disqualified all 65 aspirants, including 32 of them adopted by the governor for the primary election.

Prominent among Fubara’s loyalists, earlier disqualified were the three lawmakers who stood with him during the crisis that rocked the state, led by former factional Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo and a former caretaker committee chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Chibuike Ihunwo.

Oko-Jumbo and many others had appeared before the APC screening appeal committee headed by Abdul Mahmud, which the party constituted to entertain petitions. The panel has promised to submit its report to the National Secretariat.

However, in the final list of cleared aspirants for the primaries, the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Dumle Maol, House Leader Major Jack, and 34 others said to be aligned to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, were cleared to contest positions in the 32-member House.

Confirming the list of cleared House of Assembly aspirants, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Chibike Ikenga, in a statement released on Tuesday, said it emanated from the party’s National Secretariat.

The statement urged the cleared aspirants to cross-check their names at the state party secretariat in Port Harcourt.

The statement reads: “This is to convey to the aspirants, party members and the public the final list of cleared and uncleared aspirants for the House of Assembly primary election scheduled as stated above.

“Kindly note that this is for the information of the aspirants, who need to cross-check with the party through the notice board at the state party secretariat located at No. 268B Port Harcourt/Aba Express Road, PH.

“Furthermore, this is as released by the National leadership of the party.”
