Aston Villa are reportedly monitoring the progress of Noël Aséko as they look to strengthen their midfield options ahead of next season. The 20-year-old, currently impressing on loan at Hannover 96, has emerged as one of the most exciting young midfielders in Germany’s second tier, and his performances have not gone unnoticed across Europe.

Aséko has enjoyed a breakout 2025/26 campaign, establishing himself as a key figure in Hannover’s midfield. He has made 27 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga, registering 3 goals and 5 assists while playing over 1,900 minutes. His influence goes beyond raw output, with strong underlying contributions in build-up play and a consistent ability to cover ground and press effectively. His performances have also earned him recognition at Germany U21 level, underlining his growing reputation.

Villa’s interest is driven by a clear need to add energy, dynamism, and technical quality to their midfield. Under Unai Emery, the team has developed into a well-structured and competitive unit, but sustaining that level requires depth and versatility, particularly in central areas where the physical and tactical demands are intense.

Aséko fits the profile Villa are targeting. He is comfortable operating as a box-to-box midfielder or in a deeper role, capable of breaking up play while also progressing the ball forward. His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively makes him an attractive option for a side that relies on quick transitions and intelligent positioning. With 3 goals and 5 assists already this season, he has shown he can impact games in the final third as well as in midfield battles.

Another key factor is his development trajectory. Having come through the Bayern Munich system, Aséko has been exposed to high-level coaching and tactical discipline from a young age. His loan spell has allowed him to gain consistent first-team experience, accelerating his growth and making him ready for the next step.

For Aston Villa, this represents an opportunity to secure a high-upside player before his value rises further. With several clubs across Europe tracking his progress, competition is expected, but Villa’s project under Emery could prove a compelling destination.
