The Ataoja of Osogbo land, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, has prohibited the display of political materials and activities at all Eid prayer grounds in Osogbo ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The directive includes a ban on the wearing of clothes, caps or any items bearing political party logos, as well as the hoisting of banners and posters at prayer venues across the town.

The announcement was conveyed through the Asiwaju of Osogbo land, Justice Moshood Adeigbe, who stated that the decision was aimed at maintaining peace during the religious observance.

According to the palace, political discussions have also been prohibited at all designated Eid prayer grounds within Osogbo.

The monarch explained that the measure followed consultations with key stakeholders, including the Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasahun, alongside security agencies and representatives of political parties in Osun State.

Oba Oyetunji stressed that the ban was necessary to prevent any actions capable of disrupting the peaceful atmosphere of the celebration.

“All Muslims attending Eid-el-Fitr this year in Osogbo must ensure that they do not wear clothes or caps with emblems of political parties, display posters, or engage in political discussions at the Eid ground,” the statement read.

The monarch disclosed that drummers have also been barred from all Eid prayer grounds as part of efforts to maintain order during the prayers.

“This instruction became necessary following the meeting between the Chief Imam, security agencies, representatives of political parties and groups under the leadership of the Ataoja of Osogbo,” the statement added.

He warned that security operatives have been directed to enforce the order strictly, noting that anyone found violating the directive would be arrested, while wishing residents a peaceful and rewarding Eid celebration.
