Atletico could miss out on Cucurella

Atletico Madrid could move on from Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella due to complications over the valuation and the player’s salary, according to reputed journalist Matteo Moretto.

The Spanish giants are determined to land a new left-back and have earmarked him as a top target. Contact has been made with his representatives, but a deal could be complicated.

Diego Simeone‘s side have yet to agree on personal terms with the Euro 2024 winner, while they are also far off from negotiating a transfer fee with the Blues for the former Brighton & Hove Albion ace.

Chelsea are looking for at least £55m to part ways with the 25-year-old, but Atletico are reluctant to pay over £40m. If the impasse does not end, they could turn their attention to Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo.

Grimaldo has already opened the door for a return to Spanish football, and an agreement could be reached with Leverkusen for a more suitable fee this summer.
