Dare Olawin A non-governmental organisation, Cure Blindness Project, says it performed more than 315,000 sight-restoring surgeries across its global network in 2025, marking its most impactful year since it was founded more than three decades ago. The organisation disclosed this in its 2025 Impact Report, stating that the surgeries represented more than one per cent of the world’s cataract blindness, highlighting what it described as a record-breaking year in the global effort to eliminate avoidable blindness. Edo State Government on Tuesday closed its case in the trial of four suspected kidnappers after calling seven witnesses at a special court set up by Governor Monday Okpebholo to try kidnapping and cult-related cases. The four suspects are facing trial in the abduction of a woman at the vegetable market along Airport Road, Benin City. The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has called on Nigerians to strengthen support for breastfeeding by creating enabling environments for mothers at home, in communities, healthcare facilities and workplaces.
