Brighton are continuing to chase Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic, but Spurs are not keen to sanction a sale despite receiving interest from the south coast club.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham have already rejected two Brighton bids for the Croatia international, underlining their reluctance to let him leave. Vuskovic was involved for Croatia yesterday as they were beaten 4-2 by England, and his profile appears to have placed him firmly on Brighton’s radar as they look to add defensive talent.

The situation is complicated by Tottenham’s own defensive planning. Spurs are understood to be signing Jan Paul van Hecke, a move that has raised questions over how much room there will be for Vuskovic in the squad. However, Tottenham’s stance is that they do not want to sell, and that position may also be influenced by uncertainty around Cristian Romero, who could leave.

Brighton’s interest is unlikely to surprise many observers given the club’s strong reputation for scouting and identifying emerging players. Their recruitment model has often focused on moving early for talent before prices rise, and Vuskovic appears to fit that type of target.

For now, though, Tottenham hold the stronger negotiating position. With two bids reportedly turned down and no indication that Spurs are prepared to change course, Brighton may need to decide whether to return with an improved offer or move on to alternative defensive targets.

Vuskovic’s future could therefore depend on how Tottenham’s back-line evolves over the coming weeks, particularly with van Hecke arriving and Romero’s situation still unresolved. Brighton remain interested, but Spurs’ message so far has been clear: the defender is not for sale.
