Nigerian full-back, Felix Agu has praised his Super Eagles teammate, Victor Boniface as the striker begins his recovery from injury, highlighting the player’s undeniable skill despite a lengthy absence from competitive play.

Boniface has encountered a difficult 2025–26 season following a severe knee injury that necessitated surgery in January.

This setback posed a risk of sidelining him for the entire season, leaving Bremen and their supporters uncertain about his immediate return.

After several months away from the field, Boniface has recently started training again, with the club carefully overseeing his reintegration to avoid any recurrence of the injury.

Agu, who has been a dependable presence for Bremen this season, expressed his happiness at seeing Boniface back in the first-team setup.

“I’m very happy to see him back here because I get along well with him,” Agu told Deichstube.

Recognizing the challenges that lie ahead, Agu remarked that Boniface will require time to regain his optimal form. “I think he still needs a little time to get back into his rhythm,” he stated.

Despite these challenges, Agu was adamant about the striker’s inherent quality. “But we all know his quality,” he asserted.

“He may have only displayed glimpses of it in matches, but you see it repeatedly in training. When he drops deep, turns, and plays passes – with such timing, such vision! That’s simply an absolute quality!”

Agu also highlighted Boniface’s established track record, recalling his contributions to Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga-winning team prior to his loan transfer. “He wasn’t a key player in Leverkusen’s championship-winning team for nothing,” he remarked.

Looking ahead, Agu expressed cautious optimism regarding Boniface’s potential influence this season.

“If Victor can even come close to that level, then he can help us,” he noted, while acknowledging that the extent of his contribution this season remains uncertain.

“The important thing is that he returns to the fitness level necessary to assist us on the field.”
