Alonso set for huge spending spree

Chelsea are planning a mega spending spree under new manager Xabi Alonso this summer, according to The Mirror.

The west London giants have had a dreadful Premier League campaign, picking up just 49 points from 36 matches.

The Blues have recently appointed Alonso as their new manager from the summer, and there could be some big changes.

The Mirror claim that the Spanish tactician is eyeing big-money signings over emerging talents who may need time to develop.

The hierarchy are expected to back him in the quest and will provide upto £325 million to make six marquee purchases.

Chelsea could be active on either side of the World Cup. They could announce a deal or two before the global tournament.

The incoming spending spree is also expected to coincide with several exits. A number of defenders could be shown the exit door.

Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi are among centre-backs, who could be told to pursue new clubs this summer.
