Court has ordered for the final forfeiture of Aisha Achimugu’s N8.9 Billion Assets to the federal government.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), sitting in Apo, Abuja, has ordered the final forfeiture of assets worth billions of naira linked to businesswoman, Aisha Achimugu, to the Federal Government.
Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie issued the order on Thursday while delivering judgment on an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seeking the permanent forfeiture of the assets.
The anti-graft agency had earlier obtained an interim forfeiture order before approaching the court for a final order, which was granted by the judge.
According to the EFCC, the forfeited properties comprise high-value personal effects and cash holdings allegedly connected to Achimugu.
The assets ordered forfeited include:
- Jewellery valued at N4,645,170,294.90
- Eleven exotic vehicles worth N4.293 billion
- $50,000 in cash
- N30 million in cash.
With the ruling, ownership of the assets has now been permanently transferred to the Federal Government.
The EFCC has continued its efforts to recover assets suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities through civil forfeiture proceedings.
