Record producer and music executive Michael Collins Ajereh popularly known as Don Jazzy has revealed that parting ways with former Mavin Records artiste Di’Ja was one of the most difficult decisions of his career.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Crea8torium podcast which started trending on Wednesday, the Mavin boss recounted the emotional moment, admitting that he struggled to handle the situation because he views all artistes signed to his label as family.

“One of the most difficult decisions of my career was when I had to let Di’ja go. That was difficult, and I don’t think I will let any artist go again by myself. Tega and Rima handle that now if they need somebody to leave the label.

Don Jazzy explained that the process became emotional for both parties, adding that Di’ja herself noticed how uncomfortable he was during the conversation.

“Everybody on my record label is like my child. So, that was hard for both of us. And she [Di’ja] knew that it was hard for me. She even questioned the guys in the room why they had to involve me in that. All of us started crying. It was hard,” he recalled.

Di’ja signed with Mavin Records on February 14, 2014, and released several singles and an EP under the label between 2014 and 2017.

In 2023, the singer clarified that she never formally exited Mavin Records, stating instead that “life happened.”
