Nollywood actress and African Action Congress governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 elections, Doris Ogala, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, on Friday after losing consciousness.

According to reports and a video circulating on social media, Ogala collapsed during a consultation earlier in the day.

She was stabilised at the facility and later shared an update on her condition on her Instagram handle.

“I was rushed to FMC Umuahia. I lost consciousness. Glory to God I am stabilised now,” she wrote on Instagram, captioning a video of her at the health centre.

While at the hospital, Ogala, who was seen in a wheelchair, interacted with patients and staff.

Video footage showed her engaging with patients and praying with them.

Ogala recently emerged as the AAC’s candidate for the Abia governorship, declaring her intention to unseat incumbent Governor Alex Otti in 2027.

Her campaign has focused on prioritising the people, economic growth and job creation.

The incident has drawn attention online, with reactions ranging from commendation for her generosity to widespread scepticism.

Many social media users viewed the event as a publicity stunt tied to her political ambitions, with comments labelling it “acting” or “drama,” given her Nollywood background.

Others questioned her health and suitability for office, suggesting she should prioritise recovery.

Some users, however, praised the gesture, noting it as commendable support for patients.
