The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo Sector Command, has confirmed the death of a female corps member in a road crash on Monday in Ibadan.

The Sector Commander in Oyo State, Corps Commander Kehinde Dahunsi, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Dahunsi said that the crash involved a motorcycle and an articulated truck.

According to him, the female corps member lost her life in the accident while the motorcycle rider sustained a fracture in his leg.

He said that while the body of the corps member had been deposited at the State Hospital morgue, the motorcyclist was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, for medical attention.

The sector commander noted that details of the late corps member could not be ascertained at the time of the rescue operation.

“We recorded a traffic crash today around Agodi Gardens within the Ibadan metropolis. It involved a truck and a motorcycle carrying a corps member.

“Unfortunately, we lost the corps member, and the rider also sustained a fracture in his leg.

“We carried out emergency rescue operations; we conveyed the body of the late corps member to the State Hospital morgue, while the injured rider was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mrs Abimbola Faniyi, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Public Relations Officer in the state, said efforts were underway to obtain the deceased’s details, including her Place of Primary Assignment (PPA).
