Harry Maguire has admitted he was left “shocked and gutted” after being left out of England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

The Manchester United F.C. defender was one of the biggest omissions from Thomas Tuchel’s 26-man squad ahead of the tournament.

Maguire reacted shortly after the squad announcement, revealing he believed he had done enough this season to earn a place in the team.

“I was confident I could have played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had,” Maguire said.

“I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision.”

The 33-year-old also spoke emotionally about representing England over the years.

“I’ve loved nothing more than putting that shirt on and representing my country.”

Despite the disappointment, Maguire ended his message by wishing the squad well  ahead of the tournament.

“I wish the players all the best this summer.”
