IIF is set to host 9th Impact Investing Summit on unlocking institutional capital for Nigeria’s economy.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Impact Investors Foundation will convene investors, policymakers, entrepreneurs and development institutions in Lagos to explore strategies for unlocking institutional capital for Nigeria’s impact economy.

The ninth Annual Convening on Impact Investing is scheduled for November 25 and 26, 2026, and will bring together philanthropists, academics, financial institutions and other stakeholders in the impact-investing ecosystem.

Themed “Unlocking Institutional Capital for Nigeria’s Impact Economy,” the summit will address the limited participation of large domestic institutional investors in financing businesses and sectors capable of driving inclusive economic growth.

Nigeria has significant pools of capital held by pension funds, insurance companies, banks, sovereign investment vehicles, development finance institutions, endowments and wholesale investment structures. However, only a small proportion of these funds currently reaches investment-ready enterprises with measurable economic, social and environmental impact.

Speaking ahead of the summit, Chief Executive Officer of the Impact Investors Foundation, Etemore Glover, said the convening would bring institutional investors together as partners in strengthening Nigeria’s impact economy.

“In recent times, we have engaged in serious conversations on how institutional capital can contribute significantly to the real economy and foster socioeconomic and environmental development in Nigeria,” Glover said.

“We must admit that some progress has been made. However, is it enough, given the scale of development challenges relative to the opportunities present in a country as large as ours?

“This year’s Annual Convening on Impact Investing will bring institutional investors into the room as partners in designing a stronger impact economy for Nigeria.”

The two-day summit will feature high-level discussions on the market infrastructure, policies and investment conditions required to increase institutional participation in the country’s impact economy.

Participants will examine practical pathways for pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign vehicles, banks, development finance institutions and other institutional investors to increase their contribution to Nigeria’s sustainable economic development.

The programme will also focus on strengthening policies for domestic capital mobilisation, improving investment strategies and deal structuring, developing a stronger pipeline of investment-ready enterprises, and enhancing transparency, impact standards and ecosystem capacity.

A major component of the summit will be curated deal rooms connecting investment-ready small and medium-sized enterprises with institutional and impact investors.

The event will also feature the official unveiling of the rebranded Nigerian Impact Economy Community, which will unite public, private and development-sector stakeholders around a shared agenda for advancing Nigeria’s impact economy.

Strategic sessions will cover climate resilience, the creative economy, investment readiness and the application of artificial intelligence in environmental, social and governance risk assessment.

For the past eight years, the Annual Convening on Impact Investing has provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas, share experiences and develop practical approaches to mobilising domestic capital for inclusive growth and sustainable development.

The 2026 edition will also feature the IIF Annual Impact Investing Awards, recognising organisations delivering measurable social and environmental impact.

Award categories include Impact Investor of the Year, Social Enterprise of the Year and the Innocent Chukwuma Award for Social Impact.

Attendance is through paid registration, with tickets available at https://bit.ly/ACII2026.
