Streaming platform Kava TV has attributed recent loading issues on its platform to a surge in user traffic following the release of the movie Behind The Scenes.

The development comes amid the growing success of Behind The Scenes, which currently ranks number one on Netflix for African audiences in Nigeria and also leads on Kava TV for international viewers

The platform disclosed this in a notice shared on its Instagram page on Sunday, noting that the influx of users temporarily affected its servers.

“We’re currently experiencing a record-breaking surge in traffic following the release of Behind The Scenes and it’s putting temporary pressure on our servers,” the statement read.

Kava TV assured users that its technical team is working to restore normal service.

“Our technical team is fully on it, working around the clock to scale capacity and restore a smooth, high-quality experience across the platform,” it added.

The platform also confirmed that services had been stabilised in the statement.

“To the thousands of you who tried to enter KAVA at the exact same second, your love is massive! We’ve cleared the road, and the app is back up,” it stated..

The film has recorded major commercial success both locally and internationally. It grossed £159,000 in the United Kingdom and Ireland, emerging as the highest-grossing Nollywood release in those markets.

Distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, the movie also earned N2.7 billion at the Nigerian box office, making it one of Nollywood’s biggest titles.

The distributor described the performance as “a record-breaking run and a defining moment for African cinema.”

Behind The Scenes stars Scarlet Gomez in the lead role, alongside notable actors including Funke Akindele, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Tobi Bakre, Uzor Arukwe and Mr Macaroni.

The film explores themes of fame, success and the emotional realities behind public admiration, with a strong focus on the concept of “black tax”, the financial and social pressure to support family.

Its widespread appeal, driven by relatable storytelling and strong performances, has contributed to its continued success across cinemas and streaming platforms, further highlighting Nollywood’s expanding global reach.
