LG Electronics has expanded its cooling technology portfolio in Nigeria with a broader range of inverter-powered refrigerators aimed at helping households reduce energy consumption and manage rising electricity costs.

The company said in a statement that the expansion reflects growing consumer demand for energy-efficient and durable home appliances as inflationary pressures and unstable power supply continue to shape spending patterns among Nigerian households.

According to LG, refrigerators account for a significant share of residential electricity consumption because they operate continuously. To address this challenge, the company said its inverter compressor technology automatically adjusts cooling power based on usage conditions, improving energy efficiency while maintaining stable temperature control.

LG noted that the technology also supports better food preservation by enabling faster cooling recovery after power interruptions and maintaining consistent internal temperatures, helping households reduce food spoilage and waste.

The company’s cooling portfolio includes top-mount, side-by-side, and door-in-door refrigerator models designed to meet different household sizes, storage needs, and lifestyle preferences.

LG highlighted the GN-F452PFAQ top-mount refrigerator, which features the FRESH Converter+ system that optimises temperature settings based on food type, alongside an auto ice maker designed to improve convenience for consumers.

For larger households, the company said its side-by-side refrigerator models provide expanded storage capacity, improved organisation, and even cooling distribution across compartments.

LG also showcased its premium MoodUP refrigerator, which combines customisable exterior panels with energy-saving features such as the InstaView panel that allows users to see inside the refrigerator without opening the door, reducing cold air loss and energy consumption. The company said the appliance is offered with a washing machine as part of a bundle promotion.

General Manager, Home Appliance Solutions, LG Electronics Nigeria, Mr Oktai Kim, said Nigerian consumers are becoming increasingly conscious of energy management and household efficiency.

“Nigerian consumers are becoming more intentional about how they use energy and manage household costs,” Kim said. “By offering a diverse range of inverter-powered refrigerators, we are giving families the flexibility to choose solutions that suit their homes while delivering long-term value through energy efficiency and dependable performance.”
