    Elliot Anderson on City radar

Manchester City are reportedly preparing a summer move for Elliot Anderson, with the Nottingham Forest midfielder emerging as a serious long-term target for Pep Guardiola’s side. The Premier League champions are closely monitoring Forest’s situation, particularly with the club still facing the very real threat of relegation, which could open the door for a deal at a more accessible price.

City’s interest in Anderson is rooted in long-term squad planning. With uncertainty surrounding the futures of both Bernardo Silva and Rodri, the club are actively assessing younger profiles capable of evolving into key roles. Bernardo has been linked with moves abroad for several windows now, while Rodri, despite being central to City’s dominance, has attracted attention from Europe’s elite and could yet consider a new challenge in the coming years.

Anderson, still just 22, fits the mould of the modern City midfielder. Technically sharp, tactically flexible, and comfortable receiving the ball under pressure, he has enjoyed a breakout campaign with Nottingham Forest this season. Operating primarily as a central midfielder but equally capable of playing in more advanced roles, Anderson has impressed with his composure and ability to progress play through tight spaces.

Statistically, his development has been clear. Across the current Premier League season, Anderson has contributed several goals and assists while ranking highly among Forest players for key passes, progressive carries, and ball recoveries. His work rate has also stood out, regularly covering ground both offensively and defensively, something that would appeal greatly to Guardiola’s high-intensity system.

Beyond the numbers, it is Anderson’s maturity on the pitch that has caught attention. Despite playing in a Forest side that has struggled for consistency, he has often been one of their standout performers, taking responsibility in midfield and showing leadership qualities beyond his years. His ability to dictate tempo and transition quickly from defence to attack has made him one of the most promising English midfielders outside the traditional top-six clubs.

In terms of valuation, Nottingham Forest are expected to demand a significant fee. Reports suggest that Anderson could command a price in the region of 40 to 50 million pounds, particularly given his age, Premier League experience, and potential upside. However, that figure could drop if Forest are relegated, with financial pressures likely forcing the club to consider offers.

For Manchester City, such a fee would be seen as an investment rather than a risk. The club have consistently shown a willingness to spend on young, high-ceiling talent who can be developed within their system. Anderson would not be expected to immediately replace players like Bernardo or Rodri, but rather to integrate gradually, learning from established stars while adapting to Guardiola’s demanding tactical framework.

The coming months could prove decisive. If Forest fail to secure their Premier League status, interest in Anderson is likely to intensify, with City well positioned to move quickly. Regardless of the outcome, it is clear that Anderson’s performances this season have elevated him onto the radar of one of Europe’s biggest clubs, and a major transfer could soon follow.
