    Arteta on Eze injury

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed a fresh calf injury for Eberechi Eze following the 2-0 Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.

Eze was a surprise absentee for the League Cup final loss to the Cityzens and he was visibly sad in the dug-out. In his absence, Kai Havertz started in the number 10 and barely impressed until he was brought off.

Speaking after the game, Arteta clarified that the Englishman has an issue with his calf and will be assessed in the next week to find out the extent of the damage. He won’t travel for England duty.

Arteta told reporters: “No. He’s out. We have to do another scan in six or seven days and wait and see the results. It is his calf.”

Arsenal will be hoping that the midfielder’s injury is nothing serious and he can return shortly after the international break.

Martin Odegaard was spotted in training yesterday and he seems likely to make his comeback when the club return to action.
