Team Nigeria has maintained its position as Africa’s top-performing nation at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games following an impressive medal haul after seven days of competition.

According to a post obtained from the National Sports Commission’s X handle on Friday, Nigeria has won 16 medals comprising eight gold, five silver and three bronze, placing the country fifth on the overall medal table and making it the highest-ranked African nation at the Games.

The medals have come across several sporting disciplines, including Para Powerlifting, Weightlifting, Athletics, Boxing and 3×3 Basketball, as Nigerian athletes continue to deliver strong performances on the international stage.

Team Nigeria’s campaign has produced several memorable moments, including record-breaking displays, historic victories and determined efforts across multiple events.

With the competition entering its final stages, Nigerian athletes remain focused on adding more medals to the country’s tally and ending the Games on a high in Glasgow.

The performance further underlines Nigeria’s growing influence at the Commonwealth Games, where the country has consistently produced outstanding results across various sporting disciplines.
