Nigerian OEM Alfera Technik Targets Global Electronic Market

Nigeria-based original equipment manufacturer Alfera Technik has unveiled its first range of consumer devices in Europe, marking a strategic move to expand beyond its initial domestic launch and establish a foothold in the global electronics market.

The company showcased three devices: Alfera One, Alfera Pro, and Alfera Max at a product event in Brussels, targeting everyday users, professionals, developers, and gamers, respectively.

Alfera Technik was first introduced in Lagos in September 2025 as part of its entry into Nigeria’s consumer electronics sector. The Brussels event marks its first major international showcase.

The company has outlined plans to establish a manufacturing facility in Ibadan by 2026, a move it says will strengthen domestic production capacity and help develop a structured electronics value chain within Nigeria.

Company executives said the European unveiling was designed to test global reception and increase visibility among investors, diplomats, and members of the African diaspora.

“We are designed and made in Africa, but we are building to global standards,” Chief Executive Officer of Alfonso Group, Adebayo Alfonso, said in a statement on Tuesday.

He said the company’s ambition is to industrialise African technology production while competing with established global brands, adding that Africa must develop its own large-scale electronics manufacturers.

“We have gone through many challenges… but we believe Africa and Europe can collaborate in building stronger technology ecosystems,” Alfonso said.

Alfera Technik said it is pursuing a distributed production strategy across Africa, including sourcing components from Nigeria and neighbouring countries rather than relying on a single supply base.

Head of operations of the Group, Gbenga Ogundipe, explained that the company was already working with partners in Sierra Leone and Nigeria for component production, while also exploring deeper local software development.

He said that while global platforms remain necessary for some functions, the long-term goal includes developing an African operating system in collaboration with academic institutions.

The Brussels showcase, held on 21 May, brought together diplomats, technology consultants, former members of the European Parliament, and members of the African diaspora in Europe. The event was designed to introduce the brand to international stakeholders and assess early market response outside Africa.

The OEM said attendance was global, with participants drawn from Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean, reflecting the company’s diaspora-focused strategy, although organisers noted limited Nigerian representation compared with other African and international attendees.

Head of Marketing at Alfonso Group, Laurent Mankasi, said the brand will focus on cultural identity and storytelling as part of its global positioning strategy.

“Connection is number one for this company,” he said, adding that Alfera Technik aims to reflect diverse cultural backgrounds in its identity and communication approach.

The company said it plans to scale manufacturing capacity in Nigeria, including a proposed Ibadan facility expected to begin operations in 2026, as part of its broader industrialisation strategy.
