Popular singer, Niniola Apata, paid an emotional tribute to her late husband, Michael Ndika, during a service of songs held ahead of his burial during the week.

Visibly emotional and dressed in an all white outfit, the singer delivered a glowing tribute in a shaky voice, describing their marriage as a story of genuine love.

“My story with Michael is a love story. Michael did everything for me. He was breathing for me. He loved me, I loved him so much and I learnt so much from Michael. He showed me the ropes.”

Recalling the impact her late husband had on her life and career, she noted that he brought her out of her shell, despite her naturally reserved nature.

“I got to meet his friends because naturally, I am a loner. I loved being alone. Michael met me raw and he said he will make me a superstar, and he did. I was just the face and the voice but Michael was the engine. Even when I decided to give music a break, he didn’t like it.”

Overcome with emotion, Niniola reflected on the void his death has left in her life.

“The first person I saw in the morning was Michael and the last person before I closed my eyes was Michael, so now what do I do? Tell me what do I do? Michael was the best thing and best person that ever happened to me. There was nothing he could do that could make me leave him. And to the Ndika family, thank you for Michael. I know this came as a surprise to everyone, I’m sorry. Some people felt offended”

Recall that the singer publicly announced Ndika’s death, a revelation that shocked many fans who were unaware that she had been married. Since then, Niniola has repeatedly expressed the difficulty of coping with the loss, describing her late husband as her best friend, confidant, provider and business partner.
