The National Universities Commission has granted full accreditation to five postgraduate and 22 undergraduate programmes at Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the institution’s public relations officer, Omale Uredo.

Omale said the development followed the October/November 2025 accreditation exercise and represented an academic milestone.

“Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has recorded a significant academic milestone as the National Universities Commission (NUC) grants full accreditation to five postgraduate and 22 undergraduate programmes spread across faculties and college, following the October/November 2025 accreditation exercise,” she said.

She said the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, who disclosed the development, stressed that the university secured full accreditation for some undergraduate programmes in the Faculties of Agriculture, Arts and Humanities, Computing, Law, Management Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and the College of Health Sciences, while all postgraduate programmes in the Faculty of Management Sciences equally secured full accreditation status.

He described the outcome as a reflection of the steady growth of the institution and its commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance.

According to the NUC report signed by the Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, undergraduate programmes in Accounting, Business Administration, and Public Administration, all in the Faculty of Management Sciences, got full accreditation, while postgraduate programmes — M.Sc. Accounting, Banking and Finance, Management, and Public Administration, as well as MPA Public Administration — were granted full accreditation status.

In the Faculty of Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture also received full accreditation status.

Similarly, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing Science, and Pharmacology in the College of Health Sciences earned full accreditation.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities equally recorded impressive outcomes, with Arabic, History and International Studies, Islamic Studies, Philosophy, and English and Literary Studies fully accredited, while Christian Religious Studies received interim accreditation status.

In Computing, Computer Science was fully accredited, while the Faculty of Law also secured full accreditation for its Law programme (Common and Islamic Law).

The Faculty of Natural Sciences saw Botany, Industrial Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, and Zoology all attaining full accreditation.

In the same vein, Social Sciences programmes such as Economics and Sociology were fully accredited.

Usman expressed appreciation to the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his support in providing the necessary resources and enabling environment that made the achievement possible. He noted that the government’s investment in education continued to yield tangible results.

The vice-chancellor also paid tribute to the immediate past vice-chancellor, Professor Marietu Ohunene Tenuche, under whose leadership the accreditation exercise was conducted.

He described her role as pivotal, citing her foresight, strategic planning, and resourcefulness as critical factors that laid the foundation for the success being celebrated.

Usman stressed that giving credit where it was due was part of the endearing culture of academic integrity.

He also noted that institutional achievements were often the product of collective and continuous efforts, adding that the leadership of the university was poised to build on the current accreditation status and take the institution to the next level of global preeminence.

He further recalled that a similar feat was achieved during his tenure as Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, where multiple programmes also secured full accreditation, underscoring his commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance.

Usman assured stakeholders that the university would not rest on its laurels but would continue to consolidate on the gains, improve on areas with interim status, and sustain high standards in teaching, research, and community service.

“The accreditation outcome reaffirms PAAU’s growing reputation as a centre of academic excellence in Nigeria’s higher education landscape,” she said.
