The consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has commended party members for the peaceful conduct of the party’s governorship primary ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, spoke with journalists on Thursday after participating in the primary election in Pahayi, Ilaro Ward 2.
The senator said the peaceful conduct of the exercise reflected unity within the party and expressed satisfaction with reports from other parts of the state.
He also described the turnout of party members during the direct primary as a sign that the APC remained strong ahead of the 2027 elections.
Adeola assured party members that he would provide inclusive governance if elected governor of the state.
“I want to assure you that I will run inclusive governance and carry everyone along. It will be a government that will not leave any group or interest out,” Adeola stated.
The senator also dismissed claims that some aspirants were dissatisfied with his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate.
According to him, his emergence followed consultations and agreements among party stakeholders across the three senatorial districts of the state.
He said, “I am not aware of aggrieved aspirants against my emergence as the governorship consensus candidate of our dear party. The decision to present me as the consensus candidate was not foisted on the party.
“Rather, it was as a result of far-reaching consultation and agreement among the stakeholders and leaders of the party across the three senatorial districts of the state.
“So, to my knowledge, nobody was cheated, nobody was disenfranchised. I was duly supported at the APC strategic meeting at the party secretariat. After that, I have gone to meet other aspirants, and we are going to work together for the betterment of the people of Ogun State.”
Adeola further pledged to build on the achievements of the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun if elected.
He later monitored the conduct of the exercise in Ilaro Ward 2 and Sabo Ward 3.
