OPay has debunked viral September shutdown notice and assured customers of uninterrupted services.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Financial technology company OPay has dismissed as false a viral notice claiming that it would suspend operations indefinitely from September 1, 2026.

In a statement shared through its official social media account, the digital financial services provider assured customers that it was not going on a break and had no plans to discontinue its services.

“This is false! OPay is not going on break by September. We’re here, and we’re going nowhere,” the company stated.

The fake notice circulating online had advised customers to withdraw their funds, claiming that OPay would stop processing transactions and providing account-related services from September 1.

OPay highlighted several signs showing that the purported announcement was fraudulent, including the use of an outdated logo, the incorrect spelling of its brand name as “Opay” instead of “OPay,” and a design that did not conform to its official communication template.

The company urged customers and members of the public to verify information before sharing it and to rely exclusively on its verified communication channels for authentic updates.

“True OPay users know how to identify our official communications. Take a closer look at the viral post and you’ll spot the red flags. Always verify before you share. Filter the noise,” OPay added.

The clarification confirms that OPay’s operations and financial services will continue beyond September without the disruption alleged in the viral notice.
