Rufai Oseni has slamed Tinubu, Atiku, and Peter Obi over failure to release 2027 election manifestos.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports Arise News anchor, Rufai Oseni, has criticised President Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate; and Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, over what he described as their failure to present clear manifestos ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oseni expressed his displeasure in a video shared on X, accusing the leading presidential candidates of focusing more on political manoeuvres, endorsements and defections than explaining their policy plans to Nigerians.

He argued that with less than three months before the presidential election, Nigerians should already have access to detailed policy documents outlining what the candidates intend to achieve if elected.

“Shame on you all. Shame on Tinubu, shame on Atiku, shame on Peter Obi. Up till now, no manifesto. What do you want to do for Nigerians? You have not told us,” Oseni said.

The journalist maintained that presidential candidates should present their policy proposals early enough to allow citizens, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to examine, debate and question their plans before voting.

He contrasted Nigeria’s political environment with what he described as practices in more advanced democracies, where candidates make their policy positions available months before elections.

Oseni further criticised Nigerian politicians for allegedly prioritising political endorsements and defections instead of engaging voters on issues affecting the country.

His comments have generated reactions on social media, with some Nigerians agreeing that presidential candidates should publish their manifestos early to enable voters assess their programmes and policy commitments.

However, some supporters of the candidates have argued that it is still too early to demand the release of detailed manifestos.

The debate over manifestos comes as political parties and their candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with growing calls for issue-based campaigns and clearer explanations of how they intend to address Nigeria’s economic, security and social challenges.
