Sporting Lagos produced a commanding second-half performance to dismantle Doma United 4-0 in Ikenne, Ogun State, on Wednesday night, moving within touching distance of the Nigeria National League Super 4 title, PUNCH Online reports.

The match, played under floodlights at the Remo Stars Stadium after an unusual shift from daytime scheduling, began at a measured pace before the Noisy Lagosians gradually asserted control.

Doma United threatened early, with their winger Mathew Ogenyi beating his marker on the left inside five minutes, only for his low effort to be deflected behind for a corner. Sporting responded through Seun Akanji, who squandered a clear opportunity in the 15th minute after failing to connect cleanly in front of goal.

The breakthrough arrived in the 28th minute when Akanji finished from close range to give Sporting a deserved lead after sustained pressure.

The Lagos side maintained control thereafter, with Aliyu going close before half-time as the Savannah Tigers struggled to break out of their half.

At the interval, Sporting led 1-0, a scoreline that reflected their dominance despite Doma’s occasional counter-attacks.

The second half saw Sporting raise the tempo decisively. Shola Oladunjoye doubled the advantage three minutes after the restart, converting from close range to punish Doma’s defensive lapses.

Doma’s resistance faded as Sporting dictated proceedings across the pitch, with skipper Solomon Uloko inspiring his side in midfield. The captain extended the lead in the 81st minute with a composed finish to effectively end the contest.

Uloko then added further gloss to the scoreline in the 88th minute, firing in a superb effort to complete a dominant display and seal a brace, as Sporting surged to a comprehensive victory.

The result, coming after their opening-day win over Ranchers Bees, means Sporting Lagos have now collected maximum points from their first two matches and sit firmly in control of the Super 4 standings.

Inter Lagos also boosted their campaign with a 2-0 win over Ranchers Bees, who have now lost both of their opening fixtures. Doma United sit third after their opening victory, while Ranchers Bees remain bottom without a point.

Sporting Lagos now requires just a point from their final fixture against Inter Lagos to secure the Super 4 title, while Inter must win convincingly and rely on other results to overturn the standings.

Attention now turns to a decisive final round of matches on Friday that will determine both the champions and final placings in the competition.
