UBA Board Approves H1 2026 Audited Results, Appoints Ibrahim Puri As Non-Executive Director

United Bank for Africa Plc has approved its audited financial statements for the six months ended June 30, 2026, as the lender moves closer to releasing its half-year performance to investors.

The approval was granted by UBA’s Board of Directors at its meeting held on August 13, 2026, according to a regulatory disclosure dated August 15.

The financial statements have now been forwarded for the Central Bank of Nigeria’s approval, meaning the results will remain unavailable to the investing public until the regulatory process is completed.

UBA said it would notify the Nigerian Exchange Limited and investors immediately after receiving the necessary approval from the apex bank.

The lender’s closed period will consequently remain in effect until 24 hours after the audited half-year financial statements are released.

The upcoming results will provide investors with a clearer picture of UBA’s earnings performance during the first half of 2026 and its position within Nigeria’s increasingly competitive banking industry.

The financial statements are particularly important as Nigerian banks navigate the industry’s ongoing recapitalisation programme alongside changes in interest rates, foreign exchange conditions and regulatory requirements.

At the same board meeting, UBA approved the appointment of Ibrahim Ajimasu Puri as a Non-Executive Director, also subject to CBN approval.

Puri is returning to the UBA board after previously serving as an Executive Director before retiring from the banking group in 2022.

He has accumulated more than 35 years of professional experience spanning banking, financial technology, telecommunications and fast-moving consumer goods.

Puri currently holds non-executive board positions at Nigerian Breweries Plc and 9mobile.

He holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from Bayero University, Kano, and has participated in executive programmes at Harvard University, the University of Oxford and Euromoney London.

His professional experience covers areas including structured finance, corporate governance, negotiation and business turnaround management.

UBA Group Chairman Tony Elumelu said Puri’s experience and expertise are expected to strengthen the board and support the banking group’s continued development.

UBA operates across 20 African countries, with additional operations in the United Kingdom, United States, France and United Arab Emirates.

The banking group employs about 30,000 people and serves more than 50 million customers globally.
