Media personality and content creator Oluwabukunmi Adeaga, popularly known as KieKie, has explained why she keeps parts of her personal life private while building her brand online.

Speaking at The Creative Blueprint hosted by actress and producer Funke Akindele, she noted that she has mastered the balance between personal life and public content.

In a video from the event which she shared on Instagram on Monday, Kiekie said, “If you pay attention to my content, you’ll realise that I have mastered the art of sharing. I’ve created a very thick line between what is personal to me as Oluwabukunmi Adeaga Ilori and what is personal to my brand as KieKie.

“What are the elements of my brand? Event and TV host, actor, content creator. What is my content? Comic.”

Addressing questions about her family, Kiekie explained why her husband is rarely seen online.

“They say, why is she hiding her husband? But he’s not even funny. So why should he be in my content?” she asked.

She noted that her daughter appears occasionally due to her interest in content creation, saying, “For my daughter, you see Nola on my socials because the girl was made for the camera. I see it in her. I’m where I am today because my parents didn’t hold me back, so I’m not going to hold her.”

She added that her daughter only participates during school breaks.

“Nola only makes content when she’s on break. If she’s not on holiday, she’s not making content. So you’ll see her at some point, and at some point you won’t,” she said.

KieKie also cautioned creators against overusing viral moments.

“Sometimes when we have viral moments, we overmilk it until it becomes annoying, and that’s where oversharing comes in,” she said.

Using fashion as an example, she advised against repeating trends excessively.

“You wore something and it went viral. Who asked you to go and sew the black, the green, the yellow?” She questioned.

She encouraged creators to focus on originality, saying, “When something goes viral, it’s a reminder to do more because where that came from, there’s more.”
